Renowned RnB and Jazz singer, Al Jarreau passed on Sunday morning.

A statement on his Facebook page disclosed the news:

“It is with the deepest of sadness that we inform you Al Jarreau passed away this morning, at about 6:00am LA time. He was in the hospital, and kept comfortable by his wife, son, and a few of his family and friends. A small, private service is planned, for immediate family only. No public service is planned yet this time,” it said.

Jarreau had been touring almost non-stop for 50 years and had earlier announced that he’ll be retiring.

He won 7 Grammys for some of his hits through the ’70s and ’80s including “Mornin’,” “After All, “We’re In This Love Together” and “Moonlighting”.
